Bertie leads Withers’ Farms and Estates team. His practice focuses on land transactions and advising landowners and estates on a wide variety of management and succession issues. This often includes the sporting, agricultural and commercial aspects of estate activities.

Bertie has extensive experience in advising clients looking to purchase estates, farms, country houses and grouse moors, either as part of a portfolio or as first-time buyers. This includes structuring advice where appropriate.

Bertie is a Purdey Award judge and a trustee of the Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust. He was brought up on a farm and is passionate about country sports. His clients praise his ability to empathise with their requirements and priorities and to retain a commercial, practical perspective in this technical area of the law.
